We are very conscious of the need to protect the Environment and Ecosystems from any permanent damage as a result of our operations.

Accordingly it is our Policy to pre-consider the affects our operations will have on the Environment prior to the commencement of our works. Risk Assessments will be carried out and the Preventive and Protective measures evolved and implemented to reduce the impact to the most practicable levels possible.

These Risk Assessments will be based on, and comply with, current Legislation and other Guidance Publications, as a minimum. Wherever we believe that the Legislation may not satisfy the specific requirements of the operations we are assessing, we will reflect our reservations in the more detailed Preventive and Protective Measures.

We believe that a sensitive and good Management approach to these matters will reduce the impact of our operations on the Environment to the benefit of everyone in the neighbourhood of our works. The very nature of Construction Operations inevitably creates dust, noise, waste, gaseous emissions, water and silt etc., all of which need to be assessed and controlled.

We will abide by The Montreal Protocol whereby we will not use, or allow to be used; any of the prohibited substances listed therein which damage the upper atmosphere or ozone layer.

The Site Manager, Agent, Foreman or whoever is the most Senior Supervisor on site will implement this policy in conjunction with more Senior Management. Transfer of waste will be handed over to a registered carrier on production of a copy of his carrier's licence and checking its expiry date. Special wastes will be stored in duly marked containers and the waste disposal contractor's licence will be checked to ensure that the contractor is licensed to remove the special type of waste involved (e.g. asbestos). The licence of the disposal site or tip will also be checked to ensure the tip site is licensed to receive these special wastes and that the licence is current.

This policy will be reviewed annually or whenever new legislation so dictates. The Senior Site Manager will take a pro-active approach in ensuring that Environmental impact is minimised during our works and that permanent damage does not occur. All our operatives will be made aware of this policy at their induction's and training on commencement of their employment and with subsequent Tool-Box-Talks.
